Authorised agent touts tatkal tickets

Even as the railway ministry mulls ways to check black marketing of tatkal tickets, Northern Railway officials have apprehended an authorised railway travel agent in the Capital for preparing tatkal tickets without a valid identity proof.

According to officials, the ‘rail travel service agent’ was providing tickets in connivance with railway reservation clerks in Gwalior.   “The agent has confessed that he has been involved in preparing tatkal tickets for passengers without IDs by combining their journey with other passengers who had valid IDs. The photocopy of the requisition form and ID of passenger booked in train No. 12952 was collected from a reservation counter in Gwalior,” Northern Railway CPRO Neeraj Sharma said.

Sharma added the address on the ID and on the form was different, which proves that ERC Gwalior prepared the tatkal ticket in connivance with touts.

At least 27 tickets for different dates were found in possession of the agent which were not entered in the demand register, the official added. Officials said the licence of the service agent will be terminated.

The PRS staff posted at Gwalior who made the tatkal ticket is being questioned.
