Rare heart tumour removed

According to a press release, the patient from Murugolli in Belthangady had severe chest pain and palpitations for the last 6 months. The diagnosis confirmed that it was due to a tumour and surgery was deemed to be the only way out.

Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Dr Mahendra Mairal who performed the operation, said that the entire tumour attached to the left side of the interatrial septum and posterior wall of left atrium was removed en mass. The patient could speak to his relatives soon after the operation.  Following a good recovery, he was discharged from the hospital in 4 days after the operation, he added.
