MEG, KSP dish out drab draw

Last Updated 13 July 2012, 17:35 IST

Defending champions Madras Engineer Group and Karnataka State Police dished out a drab 0-0 stalemate in the BDFA Super Division football league here on Friday.

Barring an early effort from the Policemen, both the teams hardly showed any spunk in their moves, resorting to knock the ball around hopelessly, much to chagrin of the motley crowd at the Bangalore Football Stadium.

KSP, who started the league as title contenders but fell out of the race midway following disappointing performances, have 11 points from eight matches while the Sappers too have 11 but with a match to spare.

Title decider

Although Friday might have been a disappointing day, Saturday promises plenty of action as KGF Sports Academy lock horns with Army Service Corps with all to play for. With 19 points from eight matches, KGF need just a draw against ASC to go level with rivals Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club (20) and retain the championship with a better goal difference.
While KGF’s goal difference is +16, HASC, who wrapped up their league assignments last month itself, are way behind at +8.

With 11 points from six matches, ASC, however, would look to play party poopers.
‘A’ Division result: RWF: 2 (Regin 29th, Satish 68th) bt LRDE: 0.
