Challenges before new MCC commissioner

Citizens of Mysore, I am sure are happy and welcome that young and dynamic  M R Ravi for taking over charge as the commissioner of MCC  One great advantage is that  Ravi is a Mysorean and he must be well aware of the problems faced by the citizens.

However,  he inherits  rather a difficult legacy left by previous MCC commissioners of projects half done, taking up costly works like Raja Marga and in violation of heritage norms of two level parking lot around the heritage building of Town Hall which were wholly unnecessary and a drain on tax payers money, no control in planning and on quality of work and so on.

It will be a tough challenge to wake up the unresponsive MCC  to breathe a new life and in this task he needs the willing cooperation of all the officers and staff working under him.

Whether they can be roused to shed their old habits and will rise up to take a pledge to commit themselves to a new work culture to shoulder responsibility and accountability is to be seen.

When the controversial mall coming up on Makkaji Chowk near K R Circle in violation of all norms with two-storey parking lot close by and the existing bus stand will make the place virtually a hell to commuters.

As for as citizens and NGOs  are concerned I am confident they will whole heartedly stand by Ravi  in his efforts to clean the system for till now their patience has worn thin by successive commissioners in recent times who have been high on assurance and dismally poor when it comes to implementation besides they have never cared to consult the main stakeholders.
