Victims of ragging can lodge complaints online and get an immediate response depending on the gravity of the offence, with the Centre on Thursday launching a web portal dedicated to help such students through a centralised anti-ragging cell that will function 24x7.

The portal, www.antiragging.in, has been developed in compliance with SC’s directive issued in 2009.  A 24x7 toll-free number, 18001805522, is already operational to help victims of ragging.

“On receiving complaints, we will immediately take action according to the gravity of the student’s problem. If the complaint is very serious, we will immediately inform the police besides reporting the matter to head of the institution concerned,” said Rajendra Kachroo, whose trust has been entrusted the work of managing and monitoring both the portal and helpline under the UGC.
