Last Updated 30 July 2012, 17:10 IST

City-based Madhu Nagaraja swam across Lake Ontario in USA recently overcoming fatigue and strong winds to complete one of the toughest swims in the world.

Being the 50th person to do so, Nagaraja was cheered by more than 100 of his friends and family members as he reached the shore. Nagaraja and his crew of 12 persons comprising coach, three other swimmers, navigator and a doctor encouraged him by accompanying him on a boat.

Nagaraja is one of the swimmers between the age of 14 to 60 years trying to swim across the lake. Nagaraja had spent 10 months training for the Lake Ontario challenge and had earlier crossed the English Channel in 12.31 hours.
