MRPL promises to provide equipment to Lady Goschen Hospital

The MRPL has given its nod to release Rs 21 crore for the construction of new building at Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangalore. The company will provide all assistance to the hospital for the purchase of medical equipment and other facilities, said MRPL Managing Director P P Upadhya.

Speaking at a free health camp and blood donation camp organised by the Mangalore Airport Diamond jubilee committee and Nitte University at Ravindra Kalabhavana of University College, he said the MRPL will release funds as a part of its corporate social responsibility. The district administration has initiated measures to construct the building, he said.

He said the blood should be available at cheaper rate to save the lives of the patients hailing from poor family. There is no alternative for blood. The proposal for the setting up of a Blood Bank at Lady Goschen Hospital should be welcomed. The MRPL is ready to provide all the possible help, he said.

Upadhya said “the MRPL started way back in 1996 and is now earning profit in the recent years. Many feel that the rate of petrol and diesel should have been less as the Petroleum processing unit in situated in Mangalore itself.

The petrol prices are decided by oil marketing companies. The taxes on the petroleum products imposed by the State government also play a role in deciding the price.”

Airport is safe

Mangalore airport Director M R Vasudev said that Mangalore airport is safe. The airport is safe and is capable of providing all the services of international airport.
The new runway is 8,038 feet long. Any problem during the landing and take off of flights, will have its repercussion in the airport. ATC, signal lights, all the facilities for safe landing and tak off has been provided at the airport.

“Facilities are being provided for the starting of cargo service at Mangalore airport. The customs department has to give its nod for the starting of the cargo service.”

KS Hegde Medical Academy Dean Dr Sathish Bhandary called upon the people to come forward to donate eyes, kidney and the body. MRPL Group General Manager Lakshminarayana, Airport Diamond Committee convener Tejomaya, Shravan Kumar, KCCI former president G G Mohandas Prabhu were present. As many as 80 individuals donated blood on the occasion.
