Mahindra Reva opens Rs 100-cr plant

Mahindra Group firm, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Private Limited, formally inaugurated its manufacturing facility near Bangalore on Wednesday, which is built with an investment of over Rs 100 crore.

The new facility, which is claimed to be the first platinum-rated automobile facility in the country, will assemble the company new EV ‘NXR’ concept, which is likely to be launched in the coming months.

The new energy efficient, green manufacturing facility is part of an 18,000 sq m property, which also involves a 6,700 sq m assembly line space, where the cars will be made. The company said it would begin manufacturing activities from the new plant early next month. At present, the plant is capable of producing 30,000 units per annum, but would aim at producing 6,000 cars in the first year.

Besides, the company also showcased certain new technologies such as ‘Sun2Car’, ‘Quick2Charge’ and ‘Car2Home’, which would revolutionise cost-effective mobility and also help sustain the environment.
