Fuctak, Amuct welcome move to revise UGC scale

In a press release, Fuctak President Prof A  M Narahari and Amuct President Prof Joselyn Lobo congratulated the State government for keeping its promise of implementing the revised scales and thereby becoming the first state in South India to do so in toto.

While thanking Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Minister for Higher Education Aravinda Limbavali and the officials of Departments of Higher Education and Finance, the teachers’ bodies also thanked the Union government for its decision to bear 80 per cent of additional financial burden in the implementation of revised scales in order to enhance the quality of higher education and to attract talented youth to the teaching profession.  The new scales will become applicable to more than 15,000 university and college teachers in Karnataka, the release stated and appealed to the Department of Higher Education and Collegiate Education to issue the GO  and implement it at the earliest.
