Delhi Police have questioned Gopal Goyal Kanda’s wife and other family members at the former Haryana minister’s Gurgaon home in connection with the Geetika Sharma suicide case.

According to sources, a team was at Kanda’s Civil Lines mansion for an hour on Wednesday afternoon and questioned his wife Saras.

Senior police officials refused to divulge details, but it is believed that Saras was questioned about Kanda’s personal and professional relations with Geetika.
Saras has always stood in support of Kanda, chairman and managing director of MDLR Group accused of hounding his ex-employee Geetika to death.

Saras had earlier stated that she and Kanda looked upon Geetika as their daughter and Kanda broke down when he heard of her death on August 5. She also claims that her family had good relations with Geetika’s family.

Meanwhile, Kanda will be produced in Rohini court on Friday with his seven-day police remand coming to an end.

“We will demand seven more days as the interrogation is still not complete,” said P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (north-west).

Kanda was sent to seven days’ police custody on August 18 after the suicide note left behind by Geetika squarely blamed Kanda and Chaddha for her suicide.

Kanda has told investigators that he was not in touch with Geetika for last 45 days.
Sources further cleared the air over the two different dates that appeared on the two-page suicide note written by Geetika saying it was due to emotional pressure that led to the mistake.

“We have verified the note and it was written on the same day. The two different dates show that she was under immense pressure,” a source said.
