<p>Speaking to the media persons here on Friday, Namma Tuluver Kala Sangatane President Sukumar Mohan informed that the award will be presented at the valedictory ceremony of 24th ‘Navaragotsava-2009,’ a week -long theatre play festival organised by the Sanagatane on September 27.<br /><br />Plans<br />Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Natak Academy President Dr B V Rajaram informed that the Academy is taking initiatives to promote theatre culture among youths and school going children. <br /><br />The Academy in association with Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara is bringing out a volume ‘Rangadarshini’ comprising 1,000 photographs of some of the excellent plays that were staged since 150 years, he said.<br /><br />A programme ‘Shaleyatta Rangabhumi’ will be organised in as many as 175 government schools in the State to encourage students to take up theatre as the leisurely pursuit. <br />CDs on Karnataka theatre is distributed freely to the government schools. Competitions are held for the college students in the month of November and December. <br />Bhuvanaendra College in Karkala will be the first venue in the district for the competition, he informed.<br /><br />The Academy has brought out 4 to 5 books on present period theatre personalities in the State.<br /><br /> Plans are on to publish a book comprising the information of various theatre groups in the State, Mr Rajaram said.<br /></p>
