New programmes at the University of Exeter

The University of Exeter has introduced four new undergraduate programmes for the new academic year. These are BA Art History and Visual Culture, BA English and Drama, BSc/ MSc Natural Sciences and BA/MLibArts Liberal ArtsBA Art History and Visual Culture: Through the flexible structure of the degree, you can study painting, sculpture, illustration and architecture alongside film, video, performance, and digital art.

First year modules introduce you to the breadth of the concerns of both Art History and Visual Culture, to historical contexts and to analytical methods, while also encouraging you to think about how these methodologies and contexts change the way we think about art and visual artefacts. In addition, you’ll also have the opportunity to spend either a full year or half a year studying at one of Exeter’s international partner institutions.


BA English and Drama: English and Drama at the University of Exeter is a challenging and flexible degree that builds on two internationally-renowned centres of excellence in research, teaching and theatre practice. The programme provides you with a sense of the range and variety of literary works, introduces you to theoretical approaches that enable you to engage critically with texts understood in their historical and cultural contexts, and develops your critical, imaginative and practical engagement with the social, historical and cultural contexts of theatre.


BSc/MSci Natural Sciences: The course will help explore the scientific concepts required to explain the natural world; from the properties of novel nano-materials such as graphene, to the richness of the living world, and to complex dynamic systems such as the Earth’s climate. BA/MLibArts Liberal Arts: The programme is specifically constructed to develop the student’s intellectual and critical skills by engaging with the key issues and debates underpinning contemporary global communities — culturally, socially, politically, and economically.

Subjects studied include carefully designed modules exploring the nature of learning, critical thinking and intellectual enquiry, and cover a range of humanities and social sciences, as well Exeter is the first British university to establish a presence in Bangalore with a focus to build links with industry, university partners and their alumni. Prominent partners in Bangalore include the Indian Institute of Management (IIM-B), the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) and he National Law School of India University (NLSIU)
