Kannada Development Authority chairman ‘Mukyamantri’ Chandru demanded chief minister Jagadish Shettar not to withdraw his stand over sharing Cauvery river water with Tamil Nadu, even if he stands the chance of losing power.

He also stated that the four Central ministers should appeal to the Prime Minister to reconsider the decision taken at the Cauvery River Authority meeting held recently.

He lauded the state government for taking a decision in opposing the Supreme Court’s verdict and stressed that they be firm in their stand even if they face administrative hurdles.

He called upon the people across the State to extend support and fight for the struggle cutting across the party barriers. He also announced that he would take a tour to Hubli and Belgaum and seek support of various organisations to join the stir.

Hitharakshana samiti president and former MP G Madegowda said the chief minister has assured not to release water to Tamil Nadu come what may and hoped that he would stand by his promise.

Meanwhile, members of State Vokkaliga Sangha, State Vishvakarma Samaja, Dalita Sangharsha Samiti and women who were provided training in tailoring course too joined the protest and took protest march on the main streets of the city and extended their support.
