A local court on Friday rejected the bail plea of two men charged with hurting religious sentiments after they allegedly slaughtered a cow in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Kishtwar, Ajay Kumar Gupta rejected the bail of Sajjad Hussain and Zakir Hussain, who were arrested in Saroor area of the district a few days ago.
The bail plea was objected by prosecuting officer (PO) who pleaded that the offence committed by the accused was heinous and non-bailable and carried punishment of up to 10 years.

“The accused have hurt the sentiments of minority community and no respect for the law of land, the prosecuting officer said.

“Besides the investigation is still at initial stage and if the accused are granted bail at this stage it will shatter the investigation,” the prosecuting officer said.
