R'than govt to play poll trumpet on Facebook

Web page lists govt schemes, addresses grievances

With elections approaching fast, the Rajasthan Congress has turned to Facebook to promote government schemes and redress people’s grievances.

A couple of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) members have created a new web page of chief minister Ashok Gehlot on the social networking site under the aegis of Jan Sahayog Manch.

The new page not only promotes government schemes but also helps solve people’s grievances. The page received a big response with around 8,000 ‘likes’ and each upload had reached around 15 lakh people in the state.

“The main object of Jan Sahayog Manch is to utilise the social networking site and take the government schemes to the grassroot level. It’s now a political organisation,” said Lokesh Sharma, convener of the organisation and an active PCC member. “

We have already appointed conveners and deputy conveners in 11 districts and the remaining appointments will be done by the end of November. These conveners will further form their teams at ward and block levels,” he added.

Sharma said the web page “Aap Ka Mukhyamantri Ashok Gehlot” is used for two-way communication and is an effective instrument to adddress grievances related to government schemes.

Uploads on webpage are very precise and can be understood very easily. Once all conveners are appointed, not only will they educate people through Facebook but also distribute  literature to the people.

Sources in the party informed that the entire initiative has been guided by the chief minister to take the ambitious schemes to the people.

The Sahayog Manch team has already met All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who took a keen interest in the project.
