Two killed, 6 injured in rly bogie fire

Two persons were charred to death and six others injured when a coach of the Gulbarga-Solapur passenger train stationed at platform number 3 of the railway station here caught fire on Tuesday. The identity of the deceased could not be established as the bodies were charred beyond recognition.

Of the six injured, five suffered burns and were admitted to the District General Hospital here. A woman was treated as outpatient.

All the six injured, including three children, are stated to be out of danger. The injured are Gopal Guttedar, 62, his wife Channamma Guttedar, 50, Santosh Guttedar, 3, all residents of Badola in Akkalkot taluk of Maharashtra; Naseem Begum Mehboob, 35, her daughter Rumisha Mehboob, 8, and son Mohammed Gouse Mehboob, 5, all of Yadgir.

The Falaknuma-Gulbarga passenger train number 57660 arrives here at 12:40 pm and leaves for Solapur at 4:10 pm redesignated as Gulbarga-Solapur passenger train number 57628. Fifteen passengers were said to be in the ill-fated coach when the tragedy struck at 1:30 pm.  The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes.
