A 25-year-old woman, working with a multinational company, was held hostage in her car and robbed by an unidentified man in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka area, police said on Friday.

Geetanjali Raina, a resident of Nawada Housing Complex near Dwarka Mor Metro station, was returning home in her car when the incident took place on Tuesday.

“The complainant works with Educomp Solutions in Gurgaon and had stopped outside an ICCI ATM outlet in Dwarka Sector 5 to check the balance amount in her account,” a police official said.

Geetanjali was sitting inside her car when a tall man forcibly entered her vehicle and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

“The robber snatched Geetanjali’s handbag and asked her to drive the car. He made her drive the car for several minutes and finally stepped out of the vehicle at an isolated place,” the official added.

Geetanjali said the man took her laptop and handbag containing cash and other valuables.
She approached police after which a case under section 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit theft) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against unknown person with Dwarka South police station.

Police are examining CCTV footage of ATM kiosk to ascertain the identity of the robber.
