One more sloth bear, Kalinga (12) died at the Bear Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (BRRC) on Sunday morning after prolonged illness.
The bear was critically ill and was diagnosed positive for tuberculosis and canine adino viral infection.
Kalinga was also suffering from series of muscular convulsions and was under treatment for the last eight months.
The bear was rescued from Chattisgarh in August 2010 and ever since, was housed at rehabilitation centre. Kalinga happens to be the seventh bear to have died of TB.
Following his death, there are only 94 rescued bears housed in the rescue centre, under the management of SOS Wildlife, Bannerghatta.
