RWF to look at exports for growth

Speaking at the inauguration of the international seminaron ‘Wheel Design and Manufacture for Higher Life and Safety’ here on Tuesday, the minister said: “Export demand is one of the areas that is being looked into. We have demand from 17 countries, including the US. About 700 wheels and axles have already been exported”

In his address, Governor H R Bhardwaj stressed the efficiency and importance of a good railway network to improve the economy. “A nation has to have a good network of highways, railways and inland waterways to reach the nook and corner of the country,” he observed.

R K Upadhyay, general manager of RWF said India has lessons to learn from China on improvement of railway network and infrastructure and rued that railways continue to be of low investment priority in comparison to other sectors, by the government and blamed  shortage of funds due to budgetary support and constrained research as reasons.
