Man kills wife, nabbed

In a swift operation, the KR Nagar police have arrested two of the accused including the husband in the murder of a woman in a dowry incident case in KR Nagar on Friday.

About seven months ago Sujay Prasad son of Ramakrishna of Goragundi village in KR Nagar taluk had married Kumari daughter of Chinnaswamy of Kamaralli in Mysore taluk. At the time of the marriage a dowry amount of Rs 1,50,000 in cash and 50 grams gold was given.

Two months after the marriage Kumari’s husband demanded that she has to bring another Rs two lakh.

Along with Sujay Prasad, his family members Chetan, Ramakrishna, Shantha and Hosahalli Chandrashekar harassed and tortured Kumari mentally and physically and allegedly killed her on November 8, said Kumari’s father Chinnaswamy in a written complaint to the KR Nagar police.

Immediately police swung into action. Under the direction of the Mysore district SP R Dilip and under the guidance of additional police superintendent R B Mohan Reddy, DySP, Mysore rural police T Siddappa, a special squad was formed under the leadership of KR Nagar circle inspector Prasanna Kumar who were successful in nabbing the accused Sujay Prasad and Ramakrishna  on November 10.

They were later remanded in judicial custody.
SP Dilip has lauded the efforts of the team and announced a reward.
