<p>Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has turned producer with an independent movie titled "ID".<br /><br />Co-produced by Resul, the film is being screened at the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).<br /> "It is my first production and I am very proud of the project. Besides producing I have given music for the movie. There is a lot of young talent which requires platform and unfortunately in our country independent cinema is not given that much importance," said Resul.<br /><br />"ID" is directed by debutante Kamal KM, who has earlier assisted filmmaker Santosh Sivan.<br /><br />Resul, 40, feels everyone should have the liberty to make the kind of cinema they want and it should be accessible to different audience.<br /><br />"You always want to make something without compromising on the cinematic elements. We have tried to do that. I also feel multiplexes are killing single screens which makes it difficult for independent movies to survive. That scenario needs to be changed," said Resul, <br /><br />who won an Academy Award for best sound mixing for "Slumdog Millionaire" in 2009.<br /><br />Resul designs sound for Hollywood, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam films. His work includes "RaOne" and "Musafir". </p>
