IFS officer Alok Prasad appointed as Dy NSA

Prasad will hold the office for two years or until further orders, according to the decision of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Prior to his posting in Colombo, the 1974-batch officer has served in various key positions including as India's High Commissioner in Singapore and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Washington from 2000 to 2004.

He was formerly the Joint Secretary for America's Division for five years in the Ministry of External Affairs here during which he played a key role in expanding bilateral relations between India and the United States.

Holder of Masters degree in Economics from the Delhi University, Prasad has also worked in the Office of Prime Minister, where he was closely involved with India's economic liberalisation and structural reform programme.
