A panel discussion on entrepreneurship was among the series of events students were presented at the SAP Techniversity, organised by SAP in Bangalore on Monday.

The discussion featuring RedBus founder and CEO Phanindra Sama, Amagi Media Labs co-founder Baskar Subramani, Association of India and Open Coffee Club CIO Amarinder Singh amongst others, touched on the importance of experience for budding entrepreneurs, the creating product companies versus creating a service business, laced with personal anecdotes from the successful entrepreneurs on the podium.

The panellists offered the changing scene in India, where the campus ecosystem “wasn’t anyway comparable with that of a Stanford or Harvard in the United States” where the access to infrastructure and the support for startups are far greater.

“The difference between India and the US was the system; the mentorship programmes and other support structure available for the students,” Singh said. “However, things are changing here with more campuses having campus companies.” Besides presentations from industry experts from Flipkart, Facebook, Google and Capgemini, students also had experts talk on building careers.
