A 17-year-old student who took sides in a fight between two groups over a trivial issue was stabbed to death near TVS Circle on Saturday.

The dead has been identified as Surendra Kati, a resident of Peenya second stage, and a class X student.

According to police, on Friday morning, a scuffle ensued between Keshav and Sheshu, both employees of Bombay Rayon, a garments factory at Peenya second stage over a seat in the canteen.

Keshav attacked Sheshu when the latter refused to vacate the chair he was sitting. Both were locked in a fight and other workers at the canteen pacified them.

After the working hours in the evening, Keshav and his friends assaulted Sheshu again.
According to police, Keshav slapped Sheshu.

The quarrel took an ugly turn on Saturday morning when Keshav and Sheshu confronted each other with their supporters. Kati, who knew both the men, had accompanied Shesu. As a fight ensued between the two groups, Keshav stabbed Kati in the thigh.

A profusely bleeding Kati was shifted to a nearby private hospital where he succumbed to injures in the afternoon. The body was handed over to the family after a post mortem at M S Ramaiah Hospital.

Kati, a Nepali, was a student of R V English Medium School and was residing near TVS Circle. Keshav and Shehu, both residents of the same area, have been absconding.

Police said all those involved in the scuffle had been identified and were being rounded up.
