Govt schemes to benefit slumdwellers

They have identified the second largest slum in Koramangala and made several visits on weekends for nearly a month to collect the required data.
They also collected data on  beggars outside temples, churches and mosques and prepared a list of 400 beneficiaries who are eligible for benefits under schemes for the welfare of disabled and senior citizens above 65 years. They helped the beneficiaries in completing other formalities.

They requested the Revenue Department special duty commissioner and Bangalore Urban district deputy commissioner to complete the process at the earliest. A programme to distribute certificates to beneficiaries was held on Thursday at Masjid-E-Mamoor.
Lokayukta Santosh Hegde said that the institution of Lokayukta is not only zeroing in on corrupt officials, but also helping those who come seeking benefits of government schemes.
