Q I am a teenager. My face is suddenly growing darker than my body, and there are dark circles under my eyes. Doctors say this is hyper-pigmentation. What should I do to remedy the situation?

AApply a sunscreen with high SPF before going out in the sun. Use a facial scrub once or twice a week. Mix rice powder with curd and a pinch of turmeric. Apply on the face and rub gently on the skin with tiny circular movements. Leave on for a few minutes and then wash off with water. Mix honey and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply daily on the face.

Wash off after 15 minutes with plain water. For dark circles under the eyes, apply pure almond oil daily and massage it lightly on the skin, using only the ring finger. Do this for one minute under each eye. Massage in one direction only.  Leave on for 15 minutes and wipe off gently with moist cotton wool. You can also mix cucumber juice and potato juice in equal quantities. Apply under eyes daily for 20 minutes. Wash off with water.
