Stephen’s hat-trick and a brace by Amoes powered South United to a thumping 7-0 win over Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Thursday.

The victory, the biggest so far this season, also helped new entrants South United climb to third in the league table with seven points from four matches.

Stephen (33rd, 51st, 80th), Amoes (12th, 22nd), G Vignesh (1st) and Sunil Kumar (26th) were the scorers for South United.

Meanwhile, promoted outfit DYSS’s tale of woes continued with their fourth successive defeat.

Vignesh opened the scoring for South United in the very first minute and it was a sign of things to come. The midfielder’s powerful shot from the edge of the area gave little chance to DYSS goalkeeper Sunil Kumar.

Stephen and Amoes combined to double the lead for South United in the 12th minute. Amoes collected a fine through ball from Stephen and easily beat Sunil to slot the ball into the right corner.

The duo did an encore in the 22nd minute. Amoes was fed again by Stephen and he cut into the area and outwitted Sunil.

The misery continued for DYSS in the second half. Stephen volleyed home in the 51st minute and the striker completed his hat-trick and South United’s tally in the 80th minute.
Earlier, Pradeep’s late strike (77th) helped CIL pip LRDE 1-0 in the A Division.
