People's problems

Motorists jittery on using this road

The road connecting the Airport Road and Jakkur plantations is in a pathetic state.
It has become extremely difficult to drive on the road lined with several apartment complexes. More residential complexes are likely to come up in future on the stretch, which would only make the road use a nightmarish experience.

The vehicles get damaged or tyres get punctured while moving on this road. The fate of motorcyclists is still worse since sometimes two-wheelers just skid off the road. Will the BBMP take action to repair the road?

Extend Vayu Vajra service

The Vayu Vajra Volvo bus connecting JP Nagar 6th phase to BIA could be extended to RBI Layout, JP Nagar 7th phase. Several people from the apartment enclaves such as Millenium, Elita Promenade, L&T South City, Brigade Gardenia commute can avail the bus service. I request the BMTC to consider running a trial service and implement it fully only if found financially viable.

Hawkers encroach footpaths

Without an iota of doubt one can vouch that the pavements and sidewalks all over the City have become the preserve of street hawkers and vendors. These road-side traders take up a great deal of space on the already narrow footpaths forcing pedestrians to venture on the streets.

To make matters worse, the cops are hand in glove with these traders who tip them off every now and then just to retain their space. The pavements near the Cox Town market and the Clarence School in Richards Town are good examples of footpaths encroached upon.

Pedestrians, especially school-going children and their parents have to make do by walking close to the pavement putting their lives at risk. Besides, many busy roads in the City have no sidewalks at all and no thought seems to have gone into creating them.

In the rush of traffic it is a nightmare to walk on these roads and the authorities would do well to earmark a narrow portion for use of pedestrians. The City fathers should ensure that the sanctity of these ‘walking spaces’ are maintained and initiate tough measures to evict the hawkers.

Road not restored

The 8th Cross Road in Victoria Layout was dug up to sewerage lines four months ago and since then it has been left like that. The road is located in the central business district. Several complaints to the authorities concerned have not yielded any result.

Shift BMTC bus stop

Sunkadkatte is a busy area connecting Peenya Second Stage and areas in the Magadi taluk. Motorists and pedestrians face inconvenience due to narrow main road in the area. The buses going towards Peenya and Magadi stop in the middle of the main road and the BMTC bus stop should therefore be shifted immediately. Stopping buses in the middle of the road has become a hurdle for smooth movement of vehicles.
