North Delhi Municipal Corporation will conduct a fresh survey of total number of properties under its jurisdiction to maximise the number of properties under tax net.

With the deliberative wing of the civic body deciding not to increase property taxes across board due to political compulsions, the corporation is now exploring alternatives like bringing maximum number of properties under the tax net. Corporation officials said they will hire a private agency to conduct a survey and prepare s report of all the properties.

“A survey of all the properties was done some time back by an agency of Delhi government. Now we want to have our own data of properties,” said deputy chairman of standing committee, V P Pandey.

The deputy chairman said the private agency that will be hired would have to rope in professionals in the field to survey properties.

“Their mandate will be to survey the total area of property, built up area and other aspects to meet the parameters of taxation. The properties then can be categorised into different groups,” Pandey added. Standing committee chairman Yogendra Chandolia announced a separate corpus of Rs 10 crore to conduct the survey.
