Last Updated 10 January 2013, 18:44 IST

The family of Nagaraju and Krishna, the brothers who died in an accident at a Peenya factory on Thursday, has lost two breadwinners in a single night. The third victim of the accident, Srinivas, too was the sole breadwinner of his family.

The family of Nagaraju and Krishna hails from Andhra Pradesh and is living at Kammagondanahalli for years.
Nagaraju was heading the family as their parents are no more. Nagaraju was working as a helper at the Hi-Tech Forging (Bangalore) Pvt Ltd for the last five years for a meagre salary.

His elder sister Jayanthi, mother of two children, lost her husband recently. She is living with the family of the deceased, along with her children.

Devastated

Nagaraju’s two unmarried sisters also live with the family. Recently, his younger brother Krishna too joined the factory as helper.

With this tragedy, the family has received a double whammy.

Jayanthi and her younger sisters were inconsolable when they came to the factory where their two brothers died.
“On Wednesday, Nagaraju had come home after finishing night shift and was playing with my daughter. He had taken the children to a bakery and bought them sweets. He had promised to take them to the park this morning,” a wailing Jayanthi told Deccan Herald.

Pressure tactic

Manjunath, uncle of Nagaraju and Krishna, told Deccan Herald that the factory owner D Rambabu was trying to put pressure on them through the manager Satish not to file a police complaint.

“He said he was in Tirupati and would return Friday morning. He is talking of paying a compensation. The police too are trying to broker a compromise with the factory owners,” he rued.

He said the family lost two breadwinners and the compensation by the factory was their right.

They also wanted the factory owner to be punished for his negligence.

The other worker killed in the accident, Srinivas, hailed from Dharmavaram in Andhra Pradesh and his family too lives at Kammagondanahalli. His father Narasappa is terminally ill. His mother Eramma works as a housemaid.
