Lokayukta appointment process on: CM

Owing to the fact that the Supreme Court had cleared the “ambiguity” in the process of appointing the Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta, the State government would soon initiate the process to appoint the ombudsman, said Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi in Bangalore, Shettar said he would hold discussions with the advocate general to further the process. He said he welcomed the verdict which held that the appointment of the Lokayukta would be the chief minister’s prerogative. “The Supreme Court has ruled in our favour,” he added.
