The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, Asia’s leading literary event, scheduled to start on January 24, will offer a range of activities including film, music and theatre.

To add to the fervour, a friendly cricket match is being organised between the visiting authors and Royals XI, comprising few players, team management and other famous personalities.

The ‘Authors XI’ versus ‘Royals XI’ match will be held in Jaipur, the home of Rajasthan Royals, on January 23, said the organisers.

Sreesanth, Ashok Menaria, Ajit Chandela, Dishant Yagnik, Raghu Iyer, Shashi Tharoor, Tarun Tejpal and Lakshya Raj Singh Mewar are among the eminent players from Royals XI while the participating authors include Richard Beard, Sam Carter, Nicholas Hogg, James Holland, Tom Holland, Anthony McGowan, Anosh Irani, Alex Preston and Charlie
Campbell, team’s captain.

Sharing his enthusiasm about the match, Charlie Campbell said, “It is a dream made real for the authors to play against the Royals XI. We feel like cricket’s answer to Rocky Balboa. We are all ready, if asked, to turn our backs on books and join the growing ranks of fans of T20 cricket.”

Raghu Iyer, CEO, Rajasthan Royals, said, “We are thrilled to host the friendly match which promises to be as energetic and competitive as the literature festival itself.”
The match is open to all for free viewing.
