It was kickstarted by the Latin Dance India group, who performed four different dance sequences. First on the were Sai Raja and Keerthi, who set the mood with a great salsa performance. The duo broke the ice and got everyone in the mood, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

The salsa performance was followed by a hip-hop dance sequence and a Bollywood disco number with the crowd dancing to several well-known Bollywood hits. The last sequence was a bit of a surprise for the enthusiastic gathering. It was the Tapanguchi style, a form of dance with a strong local flavour and this particular sequence was well-choreographed with many youngsters participating.

“I have never tried salsa or Tapanguchi before. The entire initiative is very good, as I have picked up a good deal about these two dance forms already,” said Akanksha one of the participants. Step up will continue with this initiative for about a year with workshops on theme based dances like cha cha, hip-hop, street dance, jive, contemporary dance and many more happening every Tuesday.

“We will also have  professional groups coming down from various places across the country to perform as well as conduct workshops for about an hour.” “The main idea behind this to try and bring all kinds of dance forms under one roof. We aim to give clubbers the whole package which will include dance performances, partying and workshops all in the course of one evening,” said the organisers.
