Recruitments in H-K region on hold

The State government, on Saturday, decided to put on hold all processes of recruitments under its various departments, boards, corporations, and universities in Hyderabad-Karnataka region until reservation is fixed for people hailing from the region as per the recent amendment to the Article 371 of the Constitution.

Parliament had recently amended the Constitution, according special status to the region, covering the districts of Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Bidar and Bellary. The amendment provides reservation in jobs to people hailing from the region.

But the government is yet to fix the percentage of reservation. Hence, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms has ordered that all recruitment processes should be held back.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, had, in the recently held budget session of Legislature, said he will soon convene a meeting of elected representatives of the region to discuss about the reservation.
