Cabinet okays bids for waste management

The State Cabinet on Saturday approved 12 tender bids for solid waste management scheme in the limits of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike for the next three years. Eight of the bids pertain to BBMP west zone while four are related to south zone.

In another decision, the Cabinet, as per a Supreme Court direction, gave its nod for returning 46 acres of land in Nagavara, acquired for the Vyalikaval Housing Cooperative Society in 1985 to the original owners. The Cabinet also gave administrative approval for the Suryanagar Phase IV project which envisages construction of 50,000 houses on 2,404 acres near Jigani, Anekal taluk in Bangalore Urban district.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Law Minister Suresh Kumar said the housing project would be taken up by the Karnataka Housing Board at a cost of Rs 3,355 crore.
