A catastrophic friendship

Last Updated 22 March 2013, 18:37 IST

Rangrezz
Hindi (U/A) ¬¬
Cast: Jackky Bhagnani, Priya Anand, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Verma, Amitosh Nagpal
Director: Priyadarshan

Jackky Bhagnani will put his life (and many others’) at risk to help two lovers elope. But when his own girlfriend asks for a kiss, he rolls his big eyes around to ensure that no one sees. He is a gentleman, you see. Virtuous, too.

But he can be barbaric with three (Vijay Verma, Amitosh Nagpal and Rajpal Yadav). Come on, they are his friends. He has every right to slap and silence them any time of the day. And they won’t question even if he asks them to literally lift a girl from a temple and speed away to doom.

Damn, it’s dosti, after all!

Like every Priyadarshan movie, Rangrezz too boasts a good chase, generous with goosebumps. The rest is all postcards of a pretty middle-class family, sticking together through thick and thin, and rain. Add a divorce, and there is enough fodder for Bhagnani to bark through the proceedings. Later, he turns a caterer but dishes out more sermons than food.  All damage done, he also gets to dance to Psy’s by-now-gone Gangnam Style. It helps that dear dad is the producer.
