Five youngsters, including a 24-year-old woman, were injured in a collision between two cars in south Delhi’s August Kranti Marg during the wee hours of Friday, police said.

The incident took place at a traffic intersection near Kamla Nehru College. Police said a Toyota Innova rammed into a Skoda car at around 1 am.

“The Skoda coming from Hauz Khas side was allegedly hit by the Innova coming from Ansal Plaza side,” a police officer said.

Twenty-four-year-old Arjun Kohli, who was driving Innova, suffered critical injuries in the accident. He is a resident of Sainik Farms.

His friend Balakrishna Sarda, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, also got injured.

Damini Passi, 24, a resident of Panchsheel Park, Ishan Rastogi, 24, of Alaknanda, and Savar Duggal, 25, of GK 2, were seated in the Innova.

“Occupants of the Skoda were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre, while injured in Innova were rushed to Max Hospital at Saket,” the officer added.

Sarda, who was seated in the Skoda, later in his statement told police that he and his friend Kohli had gone to another friend’s birthday party in Hauz Khas village.

At around 1 am, Arjun was going to drop him to his home in Lajpat Nagar.
“The Innova car was being driven in a rash manner and rammed into their car when they reached August Kranti Marg,” the officer said.

Sarda claims that the Innova car occupants were under the influence of alchohol. Police, however, did not confirm the fact.

A case of rash driving and causing hurt has been registered against the Innova car driver with Hauz Khas police station.

Police are investigating the case as Damini, Rastogi and Duggal were unfit for statement.
