Three children injured in wall collapse

Last Updated 02 April 2013, 20:03 IST

Three children sustained minor injuries after a wall of a wedding hall owned by BBMP came crashing down at Muni Venkatappa Layout in Ulsoor on Tuesday.

The injured—Shobha, 7, Kaushik, 4, and Lalli, 2—all residents of the layout, were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were treated as outpatients. Shobha sustained injures on her right limb, Kaushik on his back and Lalli on legs.

The incident took place when they were playing very close to the wedding hall. The hall was in disuse for the last 15 years. The wall had weakened after it developed a huge crack a few years ago and gave way due to heavy rains in the last couple of days. The residents alleged that BBMP officials did not visit the spot and had failed in maintaining it. However, none of the parents lodged a complaint.

No liquor sale

The City police have prohibited sale of liquor within three kilometre radius of Mahadevapura and Ramamurthynagar police limits for three days in view of the by-election to A Narayanpura Ward (Ward Number 56) on April 7.

“All liquor outlets and bar and restaurants have been banned from sale of liquor from 7 am on April 6 to midnight on April 7. The liquor sale is prohibited from 6 am on April 10, the day when counting will be taken up, to 8 pm,” City Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji said.
