HASC  registered a thumping 6-0 win over Dharmaraja Union after MEG had laboured to a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Controllerate of Inspection Electronics in the day’s first match in Group A.

MEG and HASC are tied on nine points. The teams face each other on Thursday to decide the group leaders.

HASC were rusty to start off, but found their rhythm around the half-hour mark. Fredrick, who latched on to a rebound from Dharmaraja goalkeeper Nandish, fired home in the 31st minute.

The Aircraftmen then found the target twice in the space of four minutes. Satish Kumar Jr placed a pass from Xavier Vijaykumar to the right of Nandish to make it 2-0 in the 33rd. Xavier then came up with an on-the-run shot on the left wing to beat Nandish.

Nine minutes into the second half, Thamodharan made it 4-0 before Xavier completed his brace in the 72nd. Towards the closing stages of the match, Ricky Joy, after a solo run from the right wing, drove home neatly to round off the tally for HASC. MEG were helped by two goals from Ramu (84th) and Vineet (87th) in a span of four minutes. CIL took a shock lead in the sixth minute through Roy, who converted a penalty kick before Kamal levelled the scores for MEG in the 30th minute.
