Fans protest sale of tickets in ‘black’
Commotion prevailed outside the Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday when cricket fans who had queued up to buy tickets for Sunday’s IPL match between Bangalore and Pune noticed the ‘sold out’ board at the counters. However, a few people were moving around among the crowd, offering to sell tickets priced between Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 in black.

Enraged fans caught hold of three ticket-sellers and thrashed them before handing them over to the police.

People in the crowd said they had come from far-off places. They suspected a racket involving stadium staff, who are selling tickets to touts to make money. The fans started shouting slogans against the management.

The Cubbon Park police rushed to the spot and took three persons into custody for questioning.

“We are trying to find out how they procured these tickets and whether they have any links with the stadium staff,” said a police officer. Most of them had no choice but to leave the stadium without tickets.
