Member of Parliament A H Vishwanath alleged that BJP had no belief in the ideology of democracy, as a result of which it had announced its chief minsterial candidate before the elections.

Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, he said that the Congress had always gone along with the ideology of democracy.

On BJP leaders Jagadish Shettar and Ananth Kumar taking a dig at AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul -- that the party would not win in any of the constituencies that they campaigned in, he said that the voters would decide the victory and defeat of the Congress candidates, and not leaders of other parties.

“Ananth Kumar has said that Rahul Gandhi has been reading speeches written by someone else. Sushma Swaraj would also just read the lines written in Kannada by someone else,” he added.

Attack condemned

Condemning attack on Holenarasipur’s Congress candidate Anupama on Wednesday, the MP said that the car was pelted and attacked by rowdy elements using lethal weapons, on behest of JD(S) leaders.

“Hassan is home to a former prime minister and chief minister, and the act of atrocity against a woman in such a constituency is regretful.

“Probably the leaders do not want free and fair elections there,” he added.
Describing people who attack women as “cowards”, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah who was campaigning in Holenarsipura on Thursday, criticised the attack on Anupama.

He said that people who were afraid of losing against Anupama had committed such an act and added that JD(S) candidate H D Revanna could not defeat Anupama.
