Three men, including a 55-year-old property dealer, were shot at in two separate incidents in north-east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar and outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy on Saturday, police said.

In the first incident, Shivnandan Vats was shot at by three motorcycle-borne assailants outside his office at Harsh Vihar. Police suspect that he was attacked over a property dispute.

Shivnandan, who lives with his family in Harsh Vihar block B, is undergoing treatment at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. “He sustained a gunshot wound in his abdomen and his condition continues to remain critical,” a police officer said.

A probe found that Shivnandan runs his business at the ground floor of his house. He was standing in front of the office around 10.30 am when the motorcyclists arrived.
“They opened fire without any warning and fled from the spot. Shivnandan was profusely bleeding when he was rushed to hospital by locals,” the officer added.

Questioning of Shivnandan’s family members and colleagues has revealed that he was involved in a property dispute over which he was being threatened.

Personal enmity

A youth opened fire at two men over personal enmity in Shahbad Dairy. The accused, Indrajit, was overpowered by locals and handed over to police.

The victims have been identified as Vicky, 24, and Ganesh, 25, who were with Anil, who runs a television cable-operating business, when the incident took place.

“Indrajit was trying to harm Anil, but Vicky and Ganesh sustained the gunshot wounds,” another police officer said.

Anil told police that he was recently involved in a scuffle with Indrajit over his business. Vicky and Ganesh underwent treatment at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.

Separate cases have been filed with Harsh Vihar and Shahbad Dairy police stations.
