Combining fashion with Bollywood glitz and glamour, Ramesh Dembla’s show had the cast of Aladin’showcasing his designs on the ramp at a well-attended evening in the City recently. The theme was opulent evening wear and ranged from beautifully embroidered sarees to flowing gowns and trendy cocktail dresses. The men, of course, had their quota of sherwanis mixed in with plain silk and printed sarongs along with formal evening jackets in unusual cuts and leather jackets with embossed A which were also a part of the collection.

The different sequences had well-known models like Pashmeena, Jackie Shetty and Priya Nayak showcase stunning sarees, flowing evening gowns and little black dresses that were teamed up with brilliant jewellery.

First up were sarees in feminine fabrics like lace and tulle, worn with elaborate cholis and jewellery. The cholis were richly encrusted with embroidery and embellished with sequins and stones.

Upswept hairdos and very dramatic bold pieces of jewellery offset the simplicity of the sarees in dark evening colours.

The gowns in floral prints were designed more for the red carpet with the elaborate cuts and flowing styles. Last up were the quintessential black dresses a fail safe staple in any well-dressed woman's wardrobe and Ramesh’s cuts were flattering and stylish. “I especially designed the LBD’s to suit any age or shape, not just for hour glass model like figures. My collection has versatile dresses that can be worn as daywear or styled for the evening and they make an edgy yet feminine impression,” he said.

The showstopper was carried off with panache by Jacqueline Fernandes, who wore a gorgeous black layered gown with a matching choker that came as part of the dress. Ritesh Deshmukh wore a black formal evening jacket without lapels cut to the midriff and embossed with the letter A as part of the promo for Aladin.
