Agri department to help SC/ST farmers in the district

A grant of Rs 20.92 lakh is available with the department. This include under special unit project-Rs 15.56 lakh, Girijana upayojane-6.36 lakh, said Joint Director of Agriculture department K R Krishnaiah.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, he said special unit project is being implemented by Taluk Panchayat. The beneficiaries are selected based on application to provide financial assistance. Farmers from SC/ST community can avail the benefit by March.

The farm equipment must be purchased from selected institutes. Farmers can repay their contribution apart barring subsidy directly or through loan from the bank. Preference will be given to those who apply first.  For the setting up of storage facility, 75 per cent concession will be given or minimum of financial assistance of Rs 2000 will be given.

For the purchase of farm equipment, financial assistance of Rs 75,000 or 75 per cent concession will be given. Along with it, for the diesel or kerosene pumpset, the concession of 75 per cent or minimum of 17,250 will be given. Power tiller will get a concession of 75 per cent or financial assistance of Rs 75,000, Krishnaiah explained.

The drip irrigation will get a financial assistance of Rs 43,200. Interested farmers can send their application along with recommendation from the elected representatives to the taluk Assistant Agriculture Director. The application should include photographs, RTC, caste certificate and recommendation from elected representatives.
