MP demands clearing encroached land

“Land worth crores have been encroached in the district. Original land records should be analysed and encroachments must be cleared. The cleared land should be used to build schools and government offices,” said MP R Dhruvanarayana here on Sunday.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the organisation of aided and unaided SC/ST educational institutes of Mysore region at Kalamandira in the city.

Modern district hospital

He also felt a need for a modern district hospital, as K R Hospital built by the Maharaja’s are getting crowded due to increase in population. Similarly, additional lecture halls should be provided to Maharaja and Maharani College in the city, he said.

A memorandum will be submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar to provide aids to schools that have been opened after 1994-95, he said.

RTE Act

Education is a fundamental right. Following the implementation of the Right to Education Act by the Central government students with even poor economic background are being provided education in prestigious English medium schools, he said.

At the programme, members of the organisation sought the state government to provide aids to private schools.

They also demanded that vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff be filled soon.
Civil amenities sites should be sanctioned for educational institutes. Delay in disposal of files in the Department of Public Instruction should also be addressed, were among the demands of the organisation.

Encroachments to be cleared soon

Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad said that the Government would clear the encroached lands in the district.

“The Government is contemplating towards providing the cleared land to schools run by SC/STs and to build hostels for Dalits,” he said.

He lamented that despite providing funds and facilities, government schools have failed in attracting students.
