Water Resources Minister M B Patil on Monday allayed fears on the success of the proposed Yettinahole drinking water project and revealed that a study by the Indian Institute of Science has found that it will yield 24 tmc ft of water — to be supplied to the parched districts of Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Bangalore Rural.

“There is no need to doubt the success of the project. The government has taken up the project after getting confirmation that it will be successful,” he stated while replying to K Sudhakar (Cong).

It is not correct that the tender process is being taken up without a detailed project report (DPR). Tender for part one of the project is being awarded under Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.

Under EPC, the contractor will prepare a DPR and implement it after obtaining permission from the government. Steps are being taken to prepare a DPR for the part two of the project, he added.
