Mairaj, Aarti gun down gold in skeet competition

On the second day of the championship at the New Moti Bagh Club shooting ranges, Mairaj led the Chattisgarh challenge in the men’s section to secure gold.
It turned out to be a close affair between Mairaj, silver medallist at the SAF Games, and compatriot C Guron.

Both were tied at 150/150 till the final round, when Mairaj made the cut and won the gold. The bronze medal in this category was bagged by Man Singh.

In the men’s team championship, Chattisgarh emerged winners while Army got the silver Punjab settled for the third spot.

In the women’s section, Saniya Sheikh laid her hands on the silver medal, while Rashmee Rathore settled for bronze.

On Thursday, training for trap events will be held to prepare for the competitions on November 13 and 14.

Prominent shooters like Manavjit Sandhu, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Mansher Singh and Biren Sodhi will vie for top honours in the National Championship for shot gun, being organised for the first time here.
