In what was a tense competition, the CMR National Public School edged out the BGS National Public School to win the Junior DHiE Inter-School quiz contest held at the Bal Bhavan in Cubbon Park on Tuesday.

In all, the CMR team scored 105 points. BGS came second, while NPS from Koramangala won the third place.

In the senior category, the Vagdevi Vilas School won first place with 190 points. Kendriya Vidyalaya, IISc, came second and Silicon City Academy bagged the third place.

Around 400 students participated in the DHiE inter-school quiz contest held on Tuesday for all schools which are a part of the Student Edition of the Deccan Herald.

The auditorium buzzed with excitement as avid quizzers from various schools across the City vied with each other to test their knowledge. The questions were drawn from a vide range of subjects - from history to politics and films.

Quizmaster Arul Mani, an English teacher at St Joseph’s School, kept the competitors on their toes, often jarring their confidence by asking questions which left them fumbling for answers.

“I feel that the essential joy of quizzing boils down to pitting your brain against others,” Mani said, speaking to Deccan Herald after the event.
