Road not restored in Bharat Nagar

The Bharat Nagar, BEL Layout I Phase Main Road (East West Institute of Technology main road) is in very bad state, since BWSSB / BBMP dug it up eight months ago for laying pipes.

The road has not been restored after the completion of the work. The area is muddy and with incessant traffic, a thick cloud of dust engulfs the area always. The problem is compounded during rainy season. Due to the dust the residents are prone to respiratory problems.

Life has become miserable for the local residents and shopkeepers in the vicinity with dust flying all over whenever vehicles pass on the road. It is high time the BWSSB/BBMP restore the road immediately.

Water leaking from supply line

Precious water is going down the drains from the leaking pipe at the junction of 17th Cross and 12th Main Road in Malleswaram, for the last one month.

An employee of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) temporarily fixed it with the help of hemp strings a fortnight ago. The repair lasted for only 48 hours. Will the BWSSB take pity on the residents and fix the same?

Erratic traffic signal

The timings of the traffic signals at Okalipuram junction are not proper. The signal allows vehicles to move towards Sujatha Theatre from Okalipuram for a very few seconds and the traffic coming from Majestic side is always benefitted.

This creates a lot of hardship to people coming from Okalipuram and Railway Hospital Colony. A BMTC bus stop and a fruit vendor right the corner add to the chaos. The authorities concerned are requested to take note of the situation immediately, and do the needful.

Drainage work at snail’s pace

The work on laying sanitary line in Ramachandrapura has been going on for the last three years. The chambers constructed in cross roads are yet to be connected to the main line.

The roads are also damaged badly. Several requests made to the local corporator have fallen on deaf ears.

It would be good if the authorities concerned take immediate steps to see that the work is completed at the earliest.

Poor roads in this locality

The streetlights and roads in Lingadheeranahalli are poorly maintained. My request to the Layout Association in this regard has not met with any response. The residents are finding it difficult to tread the muddy road which turn worse during rains.

The layout comes under BBMP jurisdiction and the authorities concerned are requested to look into the matter.

Drain not desilted for years

The drainage located on VST Road, Lingarajapuram, starts from the Banaswadi railway station and passes through the VST Road, Don Bosco Church, etc. The ward office of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is located just beside the drainage. The SWD has not been desilted for several years despite writing repeatedly to BBMP, Sarvagnanagar MLA Lavanya Reddy and even Home Minister.

The sewage from the drain enters the houses located on VST Road, whenever it rains.

Neither the elected representatives nor the officials are bothered about cleaning the drainage.

Noisy trucks rob residents’ of sleep

Everyday more than 50 trucks ply on Kadubisanhalli Main Road (Kariyammana Agrahara Road) transporting soil. Continuous movement of trucks has been causing noise pollution and depriving local residents of their sleep.

This has been going for a year and our protests went in vain. The road has also been badly damaged and is not fit for plying vehicles any more. The truck operators spray water on the road to prevent the cloud of dust arising due to movement of vehicles. But this has worsened the situation. The authorities concerned are requested to inspect the road and initiate suitable measures.

Footpath encroached near underpass

Traffic jam has become a routine affair, particularly during evening hours, near Shivananda underpass. The underpass has been constructed in an unscientific way and the stretch is very narrow. Added to this, a few buildings have encroached the roads nearby.

The road from Race Course till Shivananda bus stop is very wide but when approaching the underpass becomes very narrow. Out of few buildings, one has completely encroached the entire footpath making it very difficult for pedestrians. It is surprising that none of the authorities concerned  has taken any action against this building.

Traffic pile up on Sarakki Road

For the past few days there has been a huge traffic pile up on Konankunte-Sarakki market route due to barricades erected by BMRCL without any prior notice. Sometimes, the jam stretches for as long as two kilometre.

Kanakapura Road is the only arterial road leading to Banashankari, Jayanagar, Basavangudi, railway station and airport. Likewise, the 100 Feet Ring Road is the only arterial road leading towards Bannerghatta Road. The vehicles pile up on both sides of Kanakapura Road and 100 Feet Ring Road. The road users have been suffering this for the past three years. Will there be any relief?

Stray dog menace in MNK Park

The walkers at MNK Park in Basavanagudi are facing mosquito and stray dog menace. Several stray dogs occupy nook and corner of the park causing fear, particularly among children. Will the authorities concerned address the issue?

Clogged SWD causing health problems

The stormwater drain adjacent to CIL Layout in Nagenahalli has not been desilted for several years in spite of repeated remainders. Silt, weeds and debris obstruct the free flow of rainwater causing flooding in the low-lying areas. This was resulting in rainwater entering the houses during monsoon, causing health hazards to the residents.

The stormwater drain, remodelled after spending crores of rupees, has not benefitting the citizens in any manner, thanks to the Palike’s apathy in maintaining it. Will the authorities concerned take steps to desilt it?
H Dhananjaya, CIL Layout
