Speaking at the 18th Kodava National Day organised by Codava National Council held at Gandhi Maidan in Madikeri on Saturday, he said “Kodava language, culture, tradition are unique. It is the right of every community to fight for preserving their language and culture. In this regard, all the political parties should join support the cause of Kodavas.”

He said India known for its diversity. It is our duty to preserve the rich cultural traditions.

CNC President N U Nachappa said “there is no comfort for Kodavs in Karnataka. In this background, it is better if the government announces Kodava land.”  On the model of Bodo, Goorkhaland, Kodavas should be given the constitutional right. “If the government continues to fail to fulfil the demands of the Kodavas, then we will approach United Nations Organisation for justice,” he warned. Ramesh Muddaiah, Kalyatanda Muthappa, B U Poovanna and others spoke.

Prior to the stage programme, Kodavas in traditional attire took out a procession from Gandhi Maidan to Sudarshan Circle.
